Philanthropy
At Directed Capital, we are committed to contributing positively to the community that supports us. Directed Capital is involved with and helps support the following charities and non-profits:
Our local community is where we live, work, and play. One of the ways we give back to our community is through sponsorship of the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg where our CEO, Chris Moench serves as a Board Member. Chris recently had the honor of helping plan the construction of a new YMCA facility, which will directly impact the health and wellness of St. Petersburg residents for years to come.
Directed Capital is a Lifetime Corporate Sponsor and strongly supports the mission of Tampa Bay Watch both as a sponsor and by participating directly in annual hands-on critical environmental restoration projects. The environment impacts everything, and it’s our duty to be good stewards of the land we enjoy so much here in Florida. Tampa Bay Watch is dedicated to fostering a healthy Tampa Bay watershed through community-driven restoration projects, education programs, and outreach initiatives.
The Rotary Club of St. Petersburg provides community service to both local and international communities. Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. Erin Warren, John Savage, and Nick Griffin are corporate representatives for Directed Capital and participate in their annual Salty Sands Run.
According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), two-thirds of children around the country cannot read at grade level. These children are at risk of never being able to read proficiently. Directed Capital impacts this social issue through our sponsorship of Sing Out and READ, based in Tampa, whose mission is to save struggling young readers from illiteracy through the power of singing. Founder Carlo Franzblau recruited Nick Griffin to serve on the Board to help bring this wonderful program to at-risk children in the St. Petersburg area.
The Salvador Dalí Museum, located in St. Petersburg, has been the unofficial heart of fine arts in the Tampa Bay area since its opening in 1982. We can all agree that creativity and culture are essential to any community. That’s why Directed Capital and CEO Chris Moench have been long-time sponsors of the Dalí Museum. The Dalí cares for, and shares, a curated collection of Dalí’s work to preserve his legacy. And, through Dalí inspired events and experiences, the Museum serves as an active resource in the cultural life of greater Tampa Bay, Florida, and the world at large.
For nearly 10 years, Chris Moench and Nick Griffin have represented our company and we have been a Diamond sponsor of the CEO Council of Tampa Bay. The CEO Council fosters the building of new relationships, the generation of new ideas, and sharing of solutions to problems faced by more than 220 CEOs representing 30+ different industries in the greater Tampa Bay area.
Directed Capital is a proud member of C12 with Chris Moench, John Savage, Nick Griffin, and Cam Childs actively participating in monthly business forums to encourage and challenge one another. C12’s singular focus has been to create a framework that compels and equips Christian business leaders to achieve excellence through the power of peers.
Equal access to justice can be inhibited by financial hardship. The Community Law Program was founded in 1989 by the St. Petersburg Bar Association with the mission of empowering the most vulnerable members of the St. Petersburg community. We are proud supporters of their mission, and one of our leaders, Nick Griffin, serves on the Board and as a pro bono attorney by providing free civil legal services to financially eligible residents of St. Petersburg.
Abused, neglected, and abandoned children in our community deserve our protection and support. Guardian ad Litem is a statewide office that operates through its dedicated volunteers that provide mentorship and empathy while representing the legal interests of children in our community who have nowhere else to turn. We support this wonderful cause where one of our leaders, Nick Griffin, has represented children in the St. Petersburg Guardian ad Litem program for over 10 years.
Faith and spirituality are important pillars for any community. For more than 75 years Catholic Charities for the Diocese of St. Petersburg has served our community with charity and dignity by helping those in need and uniting others in service in the greater Tampa Bay area. Directed Capital has been a supportive and proud sponsor of their work, with our own Nick Griffin serving on the Board and Executive Committee.
Clearwater Central Catholic High School, a college-preparatory school in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, is committed to educating the whole person with a student-centered program that inspires all persons to develop their spiritual, intellectual, moral, physical, and creative potential and to respect the diversity among them and in the world beyond. Directed Capital has supported the institution and our own Michael McGinn has served many years on the Executive Advisory Council providing support and recommendations to the school and the diocese.
Co-Founded by Bud Risser, Directed Capital has been a proud sponsor of Ready for Life, a solution-based skill center supporting former foster care youth in homelessness prevention, education and employment, and lifeline support networks. Ready for Life is a family environment where young people find basic needs like food and meals, caring support, and access to laundry and shower facilities. Ready for Life understands that until immediate basic needs are met, it is nearly impossible to contemplate the future.
With compassion and respect, St. Pete Free Clinic changes lives by providing health care, nutritious food, recovery housing, and education for our neighbors in need. The entire Directed Capital team participates in matching donations and their annual toy drive.
Directed Capital and its team sponsor the annual Palm Harbor Spring Fling 5k fundraiser for Elisa’s Greatest Wishes, which was created to honor the memory and wishes of 10-year-old Elisa Nelson whose abduction and murder not only made national news but forever changed life in sleepy little Palm Harbor. EGW’s dual mission is to first, honor Elisa’s wishes and memory by “helping kids be kids” and second to change the way Elisa is remembered, they would like people to remember her for the dynamic, loving, generous, and talented person she was.
Harbor Ministries is a leadership group that Directed Capital is involved with that models how to create resilience and build deep community. They share the wisdom and scars participants have gathered along the way. Most importantly, they create space where leaders can unplug, unwind, and reconnect with God.
