Staff Accountant/Accounting Analyst

We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our corporate headquarters in St. Petersburg, FL to support the accounting function. The role will focus on ensuring the integrity of activity associated with our commercial real estate and related general ledger accounting. This position will require effective communication both within and outside the company. This is a dynamic position that can offer the right candidate a rewarding future and growth opportunities within the company. The successful candidate will use their specialized knowledge and skill obtained through education and experience to audit, book,
analyze, administer, and reconcile activity related to the company’s commercial real estate portfolio. Frequent trouble-shooting of issues, requiring evaluation, originality, and critical thinking skills to apply the appropriate procedures, processes and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Post borrower payments daily to the accounting system and lender borrowing base. Update supporting reconciliation spreadsheets.
  • Maintain general ledger by preparing and recording asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information; prepare reconciling entries.
  • Set up monthly and quarterly ACH payments.
  • Prepare loan data tapes and summary of assets monthly.
  • Perform bank reconciliations monthly.
  • Prepare monthly lender borrowing bases and monthly and quarterly lender compliance certificates.
  • Update budgets monthly.
  • Prepare quarterly analytics for investor reporting and annual investor statements.
  • Responsible for preparing, maintaining and analytics on financial statements for owned real estate entities.
  • Assist with annual corporate insurance renewal by analyzing financial statements and loan portfolios.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statement package for Senior Management.
  • Participate in & contribute to monthly financial statement meetings and accounting meetings.
  • Work with the accounting team to prepare and report on monthly financial statements.
  • Works with teammates to ensure activity is properly recorded in the sub-ledger system.
  • Liaison between accounting & loan servicing teams.
  • Maintains and balances accounts by performing monthly account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
  • Responds to special assignments or reporting requests and prepares special reports as requested by management.
  • Prepares supporting work papers for external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts; provides information to auditors.
  • Protects the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains general ledger by preparing and recording asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information; generates the trial balance for assigned companies; and prepares reconciling entries
  • Works with teammates to ensure activity is properly recorded in the sub-ledger system
  • Maintains and balances accounts by performing monthly account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
  • Summarizes financial status by collecting information; prepares consolidating balance sheets and income statements and prepares monthly variance explanations related to the real estate portfolio
  • Works with portfolio and project managers to obtain information needed to complete accounting functions, including obtaining trial balances from third party managers. Works with portfolio managers to prepare relevant analysis and ensure the portfolio manager understands the activity and financial position of each real estate asset
  • Responds to special assignments or reporting requests and prepares special reports as requested by management
  • Prepares supporting work papers for external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts; provides information to auditors; and prepares supporting work papers for tax accountants

Commercial Loan Servicer II

We are currently seeking a Commercial Loan Servicer II to join our corporate headquarters in St. Petersburg, FL to support our loan servicing department.

Qualifications:

  • Skills in reviewing and interpreting commercial loan terms, documentation and structuring
  • In-depth problem-solving skills
  • Advanced understanding of accounting concepts, practices and procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of multi-state commercial loan servicing practices
  • Experience with loan servicing systems to perform routine tasks with little to no errors
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and use required software applications such as Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook

Responsibilities:

  • Under minimal supervision, uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to audit, evaluate, administer and service complex and sometimes distressed commercial real estate loans
  • On board loans acquired from third party loan sellers and ensure the structure of the loans are in line with the applicable loan documentation
  • Monitor borrower compliance with loan documentation which includes but not limited to insurance requirements, payment of taxes, financials and debt service payments
  • Work closely with account officers and/or attorneys in the general servicing work out of assigned portfolios which includes but not limited to, drafting of payoff letters, loan modifications, forbearance agreements and default notices
  • Knowledge of chain of title standards and the ability to prepare and record assignment transfer documentation
  • Conducts frequent troubleshooting of moderate to complex issues that require evaluation, originality, and critical thinking to apply the appropriate procedures, processes and techniques
  • Maintain loan file documentation
  • Perform regular audits and reconciliations of loan terms, debt service payments and interest accruals
  • Ability to work independently, organizing, managing and tracking multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment

Real Estate Finance Intern

We are currently seeking an Intern to join the production team in our corporate headquarters in St. Petersburg, FL. The position will support the Asset Production and Portfolio Management group. The role will focus on pipeline administration and asset level due diligence. This position will require heavy emphasis on financial modeling using MS Excel and require effective communication within the production team.

Responsibilities:

  • Gathering and evaluating economic and real estate market data
  • Data entry and modeling support in the valuation of real property and loans
  • Support in the development of real estate and loan valuations
  • Generation of new business leads through industry research
  • Respond to special assignments or reporting requests

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have or be seeking a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, real estate or a related field. Industry experience is a plus
  • Strong analytic skills and the ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative information
  • Advanced computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office Suite emphasizing Excel
